Key Features
Lensless geometric design: Completely eliminates signal distortion and maintains the sample - fixed detector distance, providing superior accuracy compared to traditional TEM-based systems.
Exclusive 5-axis goniometer: Provides flexible translational motion range with a finely adjustable rotation axis for ultra-precise angles, enabling maximum automation even under low temperature conditions.
Optimized Excillum electron source: Operates stably in STEM mode, minimizing damage to sensitive material samples thanks to a super-narrow parallel diffraction beam and low dose intensity.
High Throughput Analysis: Compatible with multi-sample holders, allowing for the setup and automatic collection of large amounts of analytical data with minimal manual intervention.
Dedicated inert sample transfer station: Absolutely protects samples from exposure to oxygen or moisture in the air, ideal for reactive materials or sample handling under frozen conditions.
Detailed description
Advanced horizontal electron diffraction technology
Crafted under the stringent precision standards of Switzerland, the ELDICO ED-1 marks a breakthrough with a completely new horizontal structural design. Unlike retrofitted TEM systems that are not optimized for diffraction purposes, the ED-1 uses a non-diverging electron beam combined with the DECTRIS QUADRO hybrid pixel detector. This technology provides the highest signal diffraction resolution, low noise, while ensuring the system operates stably with low maintenance costs.
Thoroughly addressing the barrier of crystal growth
In crystallography, obtaining large crystal samples to meet the requirements of X-ray diffraction (XRD) systems has always been a major bottleneck, consuming weeks of research. The ELDICO ED-1 completely changes this process by directly analyzing ultra-small microcrystals (10 – 1000 nm) from masses as low as nano-grams. Data collection and solving complex crystal structures are now shortened to just a few hours, securely protecting intellectual property (IP) for new polymorphic forms and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
Automation capability and flexible scalability
The device features a spacious sample chamber, allowing for easy customization or integration of a dual energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy probe (Dual EDS) to perform simultaneous analysis of structure and elemental composition. The heart of the system's software is the ELDIX platform, which integrates DIALS and artificial intelligence (AI), providing pre-configured automated workflows that range from automatic alignment, crystal impurity analysis to industrial-scale polymorph screening (SerialED) that is extremely intuitive.
