Detailed description
Technology & principles
cryoRaman is a low-temperature Raman microscopy system that allows for Raman measurements and photoluminescence spectroscopy at extremely low temperatures (1.8K) and in strong magnetic fields, while still maintaining the ability to capture Raman images with high spatial resolution (lateral <400nm, depth 2µm). The device can be equipped with optimized monochromators for excitation wavelengths from VIS to NIR, complete polarization control, and the ability to detect Raman peaks at very low wavenumbers.
Common limitations of Raman
Quantum research in 2D materials (MoS₂, WSe₂) at extremely low temperatures and high magnetic fields requires very high sensitivity and spatial resolution – previous commercial Raman systems did not meet these requirements. Vibrations from the cryostat and cooling system degrade image quality. Optical alignment and sample positioning are complex.
Advantages of the cryoRaman system
- cryoRaman – a system that combines high-performance Raman with a cryostat and strong magnets, achieving lateral resolution <400 nm at 2K and 9T (demonstrated on MoS₂/WSe₂).
- Low-vibration closed cryostat (attoDRY) + cryogenic objective → Z vibration of only 1 nm peak-to-peak.
- Precision nanopositioner for sample positioning and automatic focusing at low temperatures, Suite Seven software for centralized control.
Integration & expansion
- Modular design, upgrades: excitation wavelengths (VIS–NIR), complete polarization control, TCSPC mode, laser power control via software, magnetic field upgrades (solenoid/vector).
- Compatible with standard WITec accessories (TruePower, polarization, low‑wavenumber filter sets).
- Complete solution for phase transition research, 2D materials, exciton, spin‑valley.
