Technology & principles

Perspective is an IRMS using a Nier ion source (8 kV), higher than conventional systems (5 kV). Ions are separated in a magnetic field and focused using Zoom Optics, overcoming the drawbacks of traditional "multi-purpose collector" design (peak slope, collecting foreign ions, spectral overlap), achieving high accuracy and stability.

Common limitations of IRMS:

  • Fixed collector, difficult to adapt to diverse samples (carbonate, silica, gas, organic).
  • Clumped isotopes require high resolution to separate noise, but conventional IRMS does not simultaneously meet sensitivity and resolution.
  • Need flexibility to switch between Dual Inlet (high accuracy) and Continuous Flow (high throughput).

Advantages of the Perspective system:

  • Two variants: Perspective (standard collector) and Perspective IS (narrow slot collector + mini-ESA) for clumped isotopes.
  • Automatic isolation valve design on the source housing, easy to connect DI and CF.

Integration & expansion

  • Nu Sil: analysis of Si on small silica samples (a few µg), accuracy equivalent to MC-ICP-MS.

  • Nu Carb: automatic analysis of C, O in carbonate (samples <5μg), superior linearity and accuracy.

  • Compatible with GC, EA, dual inlet, CF.
