Key features
- Optimal energy savings: Utilizes advanced permanent magnet systems to reduce average power consumption to an extremely low level, only 2.5 kW.
- Superior measurement accuracy: Achieves a precision of 0.2% or better for modern reference materials, ensuring highly reliable measurement results.
- Flexible hybrid ion source: Supports simultaneous measurement of both solid samples (graphite) and gas samples directly without changing the cesium negative ion source hardware.
- Fully automated CO2 gas sample measurement: Seamlessly integrates with the Gas Interface System (GIS) directly connecting to the Elemental Analyzer (EA) or gas sample tube.
- Ultra-compact design: Requires a minimum installation room area of only about 5 m x 6 m, significantly reducing laboratory space setup costs.
- Completely air-cooled: Completely eliminates the water cooling system, eliminating the risk of water leaks and reducing the frequency of routine maintenance.
- Safe and environmentally friendly: The vacuum insulated solid-state accelerator has no moving parts, completely eliminating the need for toxic insulating gas SF6.
Detailed description
MICADAS operates on a 200 kV tandem accelerator platform with vacuum insulation, using a hybrid cesium negative ion source that supports both solid samples (graphite) and gas samples (CO2). The system integrates helium stripping technology achieving a transmission efficiency of 12C up to 47%, combined with cost-saving permanent magnets, a 90° electrostatic analyzer, and a low-noise gas ionization chamber that detects single particles.
Traditional AMS systems are extremely bulky, consume a lot of power, require complex cooling water sources, and use toxic SF6 gas. MICADAS completely addresses this with a super compact design (3.2x2.6m), fully air-cooled, consuming only 2.5 kW, completely eliminating SF6 gas and minimizing operational costs.
The device connects directly to the GIS gas sample interface to automatically measure CO2 from the EA elemental analyzer, integrating a 40-position sample tray AMC that does not lose vacuum and operates synchronously via ACS/LMP software.
